Auto Express have just done a test on the Clio Cup vs the Cooper S. Interestingly the clio cup is slower than the standard 172 that they tested a couple of months back...
0-60 6.7(standard) 6.9(cup)
30-70 through gears 6.1(standard) 6.9(cup)
50-70 in top 7.5(standard)...
I presume they both had the same miles on when tested (or there abouts) as it was a while ago they tested the other 172!
Not saying these are right or wrong but if you consider that there will be hardly any difference it just comes down to whether you want leather and air con or not!!!

Keith Surely he should be getting a CTR on your reccomendation!!! Not a 172!!!
If it were me I would try and get one from UK dealer I have heard of ones changing hands for £13500 yes that is a UK car from a UK dealer!!!
Jock.
I dont think that I have ever read about anyone who has had any serious problems. The only problems I read about are small things that are made worse by the dealers. The cars themselves are pretty good and Im really impressed with the quality of the components (plastics etc.) used in...

Dont buy a 172 they are rubbish, slow and they drop to bits! If you get one the value on mine will drop as they will be too common like the CTR!
Please dont but one!!!!!

Not too bad and quite cheap though the excess is high and I dont get a courtesy car! If you want the best then go for Royal and Sun Alliance you have to be a certain age though.
Geoff - How much extra did you pay for your alloys?

Nick!
With the competition you have alienated all of those members with standard cars!! Wouldnt it have been better give the opportunity for every member to enter? Since its not only people with modified cars who pay the money to join!!!
Otherwise I would have entered.

I have made enquiries. I want the wheels in 17" but I will buy these from someone else other than Renault (£960 with Goodyear Eagle f1s 205/40 17).
But you can get the centre caps from Renault I am just waiting for a price and whether they will fit the 17" wheels rather than the...

Dont use wicked wheels!!!! They did one of my dads wheels on his beemer. They were good for a couple of months then the paint started to peel off and wicked wheels would not do anything about it!!!
They also had a bad reputation with the bodyshop I had my car repaired in - same problem!!!!
