Re: Just clayed her in the f00kin rain
ive got a bbq to build, a diffuser to smooth into a bumper and a spoiler to colour code and it aint stopped b*****d raining in like 2 weeks.
if it needs repairing (the side skirt) then repair it before it goes anywhere near your car.
cant really give any advise on how to fix what you need fixing as i have no idea what the damage is like, need pics really.
as for the sealer, you will need a mastic gun yes.
it dries in around 4...
only thing ide say against this, although tigerseal will hold anything perfectly well, is that the self tapping screws help hold the skirt in place while the sealer goes off.
its generally put them on to see if they fit first, get someone to hold it for you, then drill with a 1/8th drill bit through the skirt and into the sil, screw in some self tappers all the way along.
take the sideskirts off again and put a nice bead of bonding addhesive right the way along the...
pic was taken a while ago when someone asked if i could take pics of the tv. dunno what was on, wasnt watching it anyway.

what are you spraying on your car?
i painted 4 side strips and 2 fog surrounds with 1 can of paint, 1 and 1/2 cans of laquer.
basecoat doesnt need rubbing down no, unless the finish is poor + rough and theres bits of crap in it, but if you clean your primered areas well before painting you...
yep, touch dry 100%.
basic test is to just press your finger hard into an area that you cant see, if it leaves a fingerprint then it aint dry yet. should be dry in like a day or so without heat.
yea g3 takes out swirl marks, but finish with either G10 or some other polish as G3 gets rid of the scratches but aint a finishing polish. for best finishes an electric polisher is needed really.
you'll struggle to get a perfect finish by hand
yea, soapy water keeps the panel cool to prevent it from distorting and warping.
but generally i only really use water on bonnets and roofs. doors etc never get hot enough to warp.
water=ALOT more mess too
wetflat
mop with g3 with hard head
mop with G10 with soft head
after its been wetflatted yup.

mop up with G3
G3 is pretty useless if you aint wetflatting your laquer, only really good for getting minor scratches and scuffs off etc.
what you...
you mean using compound on basecoat? you only use it on laquer or high solid paints.
but definatly on diy sprays g3 is pretty much essential. im currently spraying a pretty big spoiler with aerosol paint and aerosol laquer. i aint too worried about the finish with laquer aslong as its covered...
