Began a quick front caliper restoration, they're currently red which looks a bit ridiculous under turinis. So far one truley seized bleed nipple but nothing my new Mapp torch, plus gas and some whacking with hammer couldn't sort. Is this piston good for the bin?

I welded mine in the footwell on my Valver and a mates Williams, I just surrounded the area with damp towels from what I remember- must have been more than 15 years ago now

This was a problem with valvers back in the day too, I welded mine up- job done and was such an improvement

This has made me feel good about my 172 now! dam site tidier than those even if it's a bit rough around the edges. Dont get 'cup tax' either, more were made than any other colour 172 and you get crapper spec

Mine looks crap, the far ends wont sit tight to the screen but that's more to do with the clips in the top of the wings which fall to pieces

Its a bit rough and ready to be honest so it's never going to be worth anything as a standard car. I think the paint will have faded a lot around the standard Renault badge though.

Got the bluetooth obd reader and downloaded Torque lite. Fair to say I dont understand a lot of the readings it gives or their relevance. Is there a guide anywhere as to what they should all be? I can see it will be useful though, how accurate is the mpg average etc?
