Thats nice Scott, maybe a little dark in places. My fathers uncle owns some hotels and stuff in Tenby, St Brides Hotel, milk maid and a few others.

^The snap of the child is well exposed but holds little photographic value other than a snap for the family album. The dog shot is better but sky is blown out on the right hand side I.e over exposed and the dogs face is quite shadowed so you can't see his eyes.

But then where's the satisfaction in winning ;) Congratulations Dan, the first true minimalist photo in this thread!

Maybe if you lowered the horizon line so the bunkers were made more minimal by the large expanse of sky? Some superb pics in here but none yet meet the minimal criteria imo. It's a tough challenge!

New Lens (Cheap + Retro content)

Very nice I suspect it will pwn all your lenses for sharpness unless you have any very expensive ones!

    Which DSLR for my needs

Maybe consider Sony a580 too, has the same sensor as the Nixon5100 and 'probably' the canon too. Thy at this range it comes down to the handling and lens choice.

Cheers, it was perfectly straight according to the twin spirit levels on the tripod but the hills were sloping hence the not so straight look!

    £200-£250 to spend on a camera...advice needed

I think you will need to be a little more specific about your needs and the sort of camera you want

    My £32 25mm f1.2 lens

Well the NEX undoubtedly has the superior APS-C sensor, some 60% larger than the M4/3rds system. However the amount of native lenses for the M4/3rds system is far and away superior which is why I am using legacy lenses and manual focus! I think the Pen has an EVF too? Which the NEX is crying out...

    My £32 25mm f1.2 lens

Wont the M4/3 make it a 50mm lens with the 2x crop factor? I use cheap old lenses on my Sony NEX, far sharper, better bokeh that the kit lenses and much cheaper. Sony have recently introduced 'peaking' for manual focus which makes manual focus easier imo and faster than af!

    Tripods... which one...

I broke a manfrotto last night, the extension levers on the legs are really weak, the clips are also going. My £20 Miranda Titan is 15 years old and going strong:)

The future of photography? Light field cameras

^^I suspect you could just whack down the aperture to f22 and get everything in the shot in focus and then apply some silly filter so yes, personally when digital came out I never saw it as a gimmick but saw it as something that would take a long time to catch up with fuji velvia iso 50 stock...

The future of photography? Light field cameras

Yes darkroom techniques had a lot of skill, which I didn't and they are easily replicated in PS.

The future of photography? Light field cameras

I used to do all the darkroom stuff too and whilst the tools are different its 'exactly' the same in terms of adjusting exposure, toning, cropping, colouring, burning in and dodging. Indeed the darkroom is where all the photoshop/lightroom names and terms come from.
