Your a lucky chap if L200 Steve is doing your car! You can get ultra sonic guages that work on plastics but tbh whne using a pc and not a rotary you will struggle to remove too much paint anyway

Am sure your more than able to wip whip wheels on/off but would advise some liabaility insurance in case a wheel later came off!

There are general guidelines on the amount of clearcoat on a car - you saw its use on the M3 Rich? The sides were only 90 microns compared to the bonnets etc which were 150+ The clearcoat thickness can be worked out by measring an area of paint that hsan't been clearcoated such as engine bay...
