The point of this test (it was posted mainly for another forum) was to show the rotary polisher isn't the uncontrollable beast many make out. It was to show that it takes real effort to burn through the paint.
FWIW I tried it on an edge yesterday and same results...
Have just done some clearcoat tests. The average thickness of the clearcoatcoated paint was 330 microns - remember this included primer basecoat and clearcoat. This is exceptionally thick, my 'new car' is 130 microns. The bonnet could have been resprayed at some point but it was very uniform...

I am now starting to concentarte on paintwork correction only, after all its not hard to clean arches, glass etc.............and I DONT do interiors!!
You can hoover just as well as me!!
^^All clay will do the same job mate :) There are differing grades however so go for a mild one, megs from halfords is a good one.
