IMO i would say the cup would be fastr on a track, maybe by a fair margin but put them botrh on a country road and the cup would struggle. All assuming same skill level!
You should never ever use just water as it is not slippery enough (contains no shampoo lubricant) to remove grit/debris without scratching.
I can understand your concersn about polishing it but believe me they are unfounded. As for never waxing it well wax protects your car from the elements...

Cup is lowered 30 mm on eibach pros, in reality this only equates to about 10-15mm so well spotted!
Follow liams advice for the wheel cleaning. If you have to, use wonder wheels once and then polish and wax them so that future cleaning is much easier.
They can minimise them but the pc is a great polishing tool anyway for quickly applying both polishes and waxes. It realy works them in and people have commented that waxes last longer because the coat is more thin/uniform and worked in properly
Even got my tripod out loL!
How clean are those wheels!!

It will help!:D
Apply it with a foam applicator and buff off with a terry towel or m/f wipe.
Dependant upon the depth of the scratches you may need up to ten passes so dont be despondent if there not gone after the first try. Working the arae tightly and applying pressure with teh foam pad...
^^Preparation is more important than product choice though I do tend to lean towards Meguiars! Wash, and clay any products will do
Then polish - If you can hold on the KLASSE all in one i.e. paint cleaner polish and soft wax will soon be available from seriousperformance.
Should you wish to...
Whilst ultimatly i would prefer an s3 to a cup, both have 0-100 of around 17 secs or just below. One has 4wd launch advantage to achieve this so one will be marginally fatser once rolling.
Which ones which you decide!!!
From my reading, grit in sponges is more likly to cause spider web scratches on cars, whereas swirl marks are the result of poor polishing and buffer techniques used either in the factory to machine polish the paint and then again by the dealer to prep your paint, worse if they try to apply a...
^^Supposedly its accuarte to within 2 secs, although you can take stupid risks in the game and drive to the absolute limit, bounce off walls etc and put in a very good time. In real life -whats that? you are more likely to go around fast but not kill yourself along the way!
Supergard is a bit of a con but foc is fair enough, however check your paint very carefully as they are more than likely to instill buffer marks when they apply it:o
Thought I should add some pictures to this thread!
Firstly two bucket method, note the extra bucket for wheels and side skirts and deep pile wash mitt to prevent scratching.

Note same two buckets after use with suds...
