Does the cold air feed have a box attached to it?

Is there another bit that has the cold air feed that attaches to the funnel by the battery?

No, it's got a pin that goes through a hole in the edge of the window to hold the plastic guide. Mine did it just as I started a 700 mile journey :D You should be able to shut it if you use your hand to guide it as you use the window button (if you need)
