Face it guys if you only have one car, the std 172 is the way to go!
If it is a second/weekend car it would be churlish not to get the faster lightweight version;)
If they improve the handling that much then surely that would mean the cup/172 handling is crap?
Im sure reno would have put this cheap set of springs on the std car if it really improves the handling?
Could be wrong - just a thought!
Mike.. more of a question than a comment! I thought that lifting off the power gradually would return grip and bring the back end in line (whilst steering into the skid) is this different on a cup?
Regards
Oooooooooooh another cup owner, again I am surprised that you can still get em?
As others have said take it easy at first until used to it and then you can start spanking scoobs like the rest of us;)
Oh and welcome to the forum!

My Road angel picked up its first lazer toting w*nker on Saturday driving Westbound on M4 around Swansea way. Luckyily I wasnt driving excessivly fast;)
If the vehicle is to be your every day car then I would opt for the 182, mainly beacuse of the luxory and extra safety features.
If it is to be a second or weekend car then the smile you get from driving the lightweight cup is hard to beat imho!
Good one Stu

Before this turns into a 172 vs cup argument (do you think 182 owners will argue with the 182 cup bolt on option pack owners?;)) As a proper cup owner I would recommend a 172 as a daily driver as it aint that much slower but has all the toys you would require doing lots of miles. I know as my...
To be fair ABS is only designed not to lock the brakes which will give you some steering in an emergency situation. The common misconception is that it will stop you quicker, and under certain circumstances it will and under others it wont but either way you wont lock the wheels up so should be...
I agree with you Tony but with a free company car the cup stays dry on wet days!
Whilst I cannot comment on any individual test the above 15% wheel slip is fact, Locking up the wheels will not help you stop quicker!
Perhaps the mondeo didnt lock up? The 172 cup will out brake some ferraris...
The quickest way to stop is with a 15% slip on the wheels - Roadcraft.
This is entirely possible without abs but extremly difficult to master. i.e you are applying the brakes at 85% but this will be dependant upon conditions.
ABs merely achieves this 15% slip through applying and disengaging...
