Well the time has come to do away with the frankly awful Sony Explode rear speakers that are just distorting something rotten.
I need some ideas as to what the best speakers are to replace them with.
Infinity? Alpine? Other?
Looking at a budget of about £50-60.....any suggestions?
Cheers!
Took advantage of having the workshop to myself today and decided to give the Cup a good going over...and then went a bit pic mad with it. Only with the phone cam but i was pleased with how it was looking.:approve:
Comments welcome.....except from those wishing to claim it needs "slammin":rasp:;)
Parked next to a 53 (i think) plate Cup last night in the car park of Sainsburies in Burpham near Guildford at about 7.45 ish.
Looked pretty spotless.:approve:
Must be a buy one get one free offer on the 197's.....saw 3 today....all driven by old men!
Black one this morning near Ripley...bloke had a beard.
Racing Blue one this evening going into Ripley...bloke had grey hair and bi-focals on.....and then another Black one about 5 mins later driven by...
Yes it was me who followed you from Victoria Way in Woking all the way out to the Ottershaw roundabout and then gave you a wave when i pulled alongside you....around about 6ish.
Im not stalking you...honest....:o;)
Just finished doing the changeover and i have to say that was pretty darn easy to do.
Handy having all the tools and a proper lift ramp but even doing it on a driveway would be pretty straightforward.
Now just to bed them in....handy having a disused bit of industrial road near where i work...
As above, reg number R*04 XMX, parked outside the fireplace shop in Ripley, just round the corner from where i work, this morning at about 10 ish.
It got flyered but it looked pretty beat up so im guessing its not a members car....wheels were pretty curbed up and it looked a state inside!
I passed you going past the ambulance station and then you passed me on the bit of dual carriageway going towards Weybridge and then i tooted you as you pulled off at the mini roundabout.
Was at about 8pm ish this eve.
That car really does look good....its way more muscular and purposeful looking than my Cup...and in a colour very similar to Mondial, the proper name of which has escaped me right now, it looks fantastic.
Had another go in one on my own today, around some of my favourite local roads.
On this...
Think its a W-reg, usually parked off the high street near the bakery but today it was parked up by the Church.
Has definitely had some suspension mods and has aftermarket alloys.
Very tidy looking car.
Will flyer it tomo if i see it again!
Just read the hot hatch group test in EVO with the new Corsa VXR v New Cooper v 197 v Ibiza Cupra.
Interesting reading. Makes you realise (yet again) just how good the good ol' Trophy really is and how big a void it has left since its demise....
As good as the 197 is it simply left the EVO...
Thought i'd take the Cup down my own personal proving ground tonight.....well its really just a nice and varied 3 mile country road (with a decent surface!), as i haven't really pushed the car since i fitted the Pro's on Tuesday.
I have to say im very impressed.
The car seems to generate alot...
Well im halfway thru the front changeover.
I didn't realise the new spring was gonna be bigger than the standard one!
No need for spring compressors taking the old ones off but god knows you need them putting the new ones on!
Doesn't help the ones at work have gone walkies....i only have...
Well my Eibach Pro's have arrived so im having a go at fitting them at work tomo as i have access to ramps and air guns etc.
I've printed off the Lowering Guide in the guides section and it looks pretty straightforward.
Are there any tips or advice that people with experience of doing this can...
A MK1 V6 going thru Ripley high street and then turning to go past the Suzuki garage at about 8.45 this morning.
Plate ended in something like KXS, i can't remember the complete reg.
Had the MK2 rear light clusters.
I've just bought some 2nd hand Eibach Pro springs for the Cup and although im well aware it won't drop the car by much, i've heard that it may even raise the front!
Is this true? Does anyone have any pics of a Cup, before and after on Pro's?
Well a couple of the Turini's have been away to Spit And Polish for a refurb so the Cup has been on my recently acquired winter wheels.
Im surprised how much ive missed the turinis to be honest...the car looks narrower with standard 172 rim on, but then again i should have expected that as the...
Just out of curiosity, how much do the other Cup owners on here pay for insurance?
Mine was came up for renewal with Direct Line and its still around the £820 mark.
Im 24 with 4 years no claims and all the usuals, car "garaged" and "8000" miles per year etc.
No convictions and only an...
Big spot today! Pumpkin in her Inferno 182, Matt in his Black 1.2 and H5 D*P being a noise polluter on Weybridge High Street today.
Such a coincidence seeing you guys at the same time...;)
Good chatting to you Charlotte. We'll have to go hunt out those ellusive decent roads soon.
Tonight at about 5.20, just between Gravetts Lane and the Fairlands estate, a late MK2 Silver Clio 1.2, maybe a Campus, that looked like it had just had a very big accident all on its own, on what is becoming a truly cursed sweeping right hand corner, if approaching it coming from Guildford...
Again both in the space of a mile!
1st was another 172 Cup on the roundabout with Salt Box road heading towards Woking.
An attractive blonde driving it by the looks of things...didn't get the reg number though.
The 2nd was a black 182 heading down the Salt Box Road towards the same Woking...
Mine are due and im just wondering what the butchers choice is so to speak.
Keep seeing different brand names gettin bandied about....what do the majority of you go for?
So having read that the 182 has a 4-2-1 manifold as opposed to the 172's 4 into 1, i was wondering is it possible to retro fit a 182 manifold onto a 172?
Is it a straight swap?
Well i haven't been driving the Cup as it was intended so i went for a bit of a "spirited" drive this afternoon, dispatched a Fiesta RS with relative ease and played tag with a 206Gti 180, before taking in a section of quiet, twisty country road near me.
Now it became apparent that the Cup felt...

Who can spell S P U N?
Just don't be convinced about the apparent lack of any accident history.

I know for a fact that it was written off back in...
2 spots on the drive home tonight, both at about 5.25ish
Number 1 Silver 182 followed me from the Burnt Common roundabout to the Old Woking roundabout. Reg was R*54 LKK.
Number 2 was at the Mayford roundabout heading back towards Westfield.
Didn't catch the reg.
Reg No. R*55 TPX, pulling away from the traffic lights outside the Guildford PC World heading towards Guildford/Ladymead retail park today at about 2pm
