It’s the fact that you’re controlling the revs, gears, and you end up driving the car differently.
They have their place, a dsg doesn’t ruin a car. But a perfectly heel/toe downshift in a manual is great, and enjoyable at any speed. It’s just pushing a button in a dsg.
Each to their own
Imagine getting into a car like that, with an engine like that and thinking,
“You know what Gordon, there’s just a bit too much interaction. Can I have an auto. And more cup holders. Can you do autopilot? Gordon? Gordon???”
Whichever option is the best deal tbh. People talk about tyres like they’re about to go out and qualify for Monaco and adjust the psi on one corner by 0.5 to help turn in.
The reality is, 99.9% of us couldn’t say which is better if we back to back tested them. What we end up doing is comparing...
“Let’s take 2 brands, not renowned for reliability and combine them!”
Shall we take the most reliable, sturdy parts and use them in combination?

Even 15yrs ago (I briefly convinced myself I could daily one) the manuals carried a premium.
There’s a family in Farnham royal that used to own every special Ferrari. I once saw them drive out, in order a 288gto, f40, f50, enzo. With their Veyron bringing up the rear.
