My clutch and flywheel turned up today , thanks Russ
I have my first trackday booked for this Sunday. It’s short 15 min sessions so ideal to give the car a shakedown. I will then decide if it’s worth fitting the clutch and a refurbd gearbox or wait until I fit the turbo engine later in the year.
It was on a DynoJet dyne so will be different to the readings the SLS guys have been getting at RA , we did pull my old engines graph it was 205atw on the same dyno, and was 190+ at Performance HQ . Would guess this would be closer to 155atw on the RA dyno
Had the car on a friends dyno this morning to check the fueling.
The engine was mapped by efi in Frasers car with group n timing, I have a 182 manifold and different exhaust but fueling still seems to be safe.
If I was planning on running this engine long term I would take it back to efi for...
Got loaded up this morning and headed to ALM for alignment.
Up on the ramp and corner weighting done came in at 901kg with 1/4 tank and both seats in. Then it was time to get the strings out for alignment.
All done loaded up ready for home , got some rainsports fitted to spare wheels...
Couple more small jobs done today after I uncovered the car.
Engine bay cleaned up
Carbon covers fitted to the cage where it would get rubbed getting in and out
Sun strip fitted
Also a little mod to the Audi , front splitter should be here for that next week as well.
Few more parts soon to be added to the "budget blown" pile , helix clutch and lightweight flywheel .
Will probably fit these after a few track days along with some arp rod bolts and flywheel bolts.
After seeing the results Bloke got with the group N timing , Im looking forward to trying...
The notes were put there buy Stu when he had the car, handy spanner sizes for quick checks at track.
I will try and clean up the windows if I can get them half decent they will do.
As Craig says above I still have the clips under the screen which helps also make sure you have the clip fitted under the hinge as this helps as well, the panel still flexes but the pulls will work, in an emergency if the marshal brakes the panel then that's the least of my worries :fearscream...
Looking forward to getting my car out on track now , as the engine I just fitted (Frasers old one ) has group N timing and efi map.
Im just hoping there was enough fuel in the map to compensate for any changes caused by my different exhaust.
Looking for the best product or method for cleaning the poly windows in my track car , they are showing signs of age and also have glue marks from previous decals/numbers.
I did think scratch X on the DA but wasn't sure if it would burn easily.
I’ve had a couple on my clio , this was off of eBay and based on the mk3 Renault livery. Was cheap at around £200 and looked ok.
This was custom costing about £400
I have my first trackday book in the car on the 22nd April , its a CSOC session as part of the Super lap Scotland first event at Knockhill . We will have 6 short sessions out on track so ideal to use as a shake down.
Before that I need to get the car up for alignment and corner weighting to...
Today the green shed took its first trip out the garage under its own power.
I still need to give it a proper clean and get an alignment done before I can take it on track but it’s getting closer to being useable.
Spent today stealing parts from this.
So the car now has AST 5100’s and a roll center kit fitted.
bonnet is now painted and fitted aswell, so really just alignment and a sunstrip to finish
On my old engine the FD change in the gripper box made a big difference as kept the engine in higher revs , If i go turbo this time it should have the torque lower down to pull standard gearing.
Bit more progress made today.
PMS rear roll bar fitted.
Brake lines clipped in
Battery moved to behind passenger seat to clear up the rear and move weight lower
Got the dash finished and wiring wrapped
Engine bay hoses clipped up and battery bulkhead connector fitted
I also...
