I bought one with universal fit (different screw bits) from rtec for about £10... about 16cm long, not as good reception as the old one but pretty decent considering its tiny size!

Wrap a small cloth around the arial then use all the force you want with the pliers, should come off easier and not shred your old ones to bit.

Perfect! someone who works at jessops.. this is exactly what I was hoping for. You sure the A710is is a better camera? the a640 is 10 megapixels, a lot of manual features (a sexy swivel screen!) and sometimes the picture quality has been compared to the new G series model. I take it jessops...
