90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

Haha yeah. It's a not very secret secret ? I have considered some other options to be honest, but keep coming back round to the Fezbomb. It just ticks the most boxes. I think, with what I have in mind, it could be a pretty potent (and visually appealing) car for not that much money.

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

As I say to everyone who criticises the modern WRC; go and stand in a dark forest in Wales later this year, listen to the cars coming at you from miles away, see the speed they carry, the way they change direction, the way they accelerate and the commitment from the top drivers, then come back...

I think your car choice gives you away ?

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

Anyway, this thread shouldn't be about driving round in circles, it's about proper motorsport ;)

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

The coverage is a tough one. The ITV4 coverage is good but, the problem is, it's on ITV4. The BTCC used to be on Grandstand on the BBC, so it was much more prominent. The multitude of TV channels has made it more challenging in a way. There is more opportunity for motorsport to be on TV, but so...

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

Totally, but it's proven that recovery is possible, without homologated/showroom-looking cars. Rallying seems to be struggling with that, which is where I think the media/PR issues come in.

I think there is some truth in that, but you could argue the same about BTCC and that's doing pretty well these days. The poor media coverage is one of the biggest problems. The All Live coverage they offer is great, but they shouldn't have charged for it, not initially at least.

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

Group B cars were covered in aero. It was just s**t compared to modern stuff ? I agree with @McGherkin, I think people are going to look back on this era with great fondness. The cars are wilder than they've been for a long time and the competition is tighter than a mouse's ear. We should...

90’s WRC Monte Carlo - proper.

People always go on about Group B but god the crowd control was still poor during the Group A era, especially given that, by this time, the cars were every bit as fast. It was a great time though. Better than Group B in my view. Lots of manufacturers, lots of great drivers, and cars that looked...

    My New Volvo 850 T5

A price worth paying. Can't say I get the love for the 340/360 though.

    Clio 172 cup rally/race/track car

Yeah closed road is the ultimate. It's my plan too, but a bit of a way to go yet.

TomoTek - 182 Track Build here we come!...

Another great write-up. Shame about the DNF, especially as it was totally outside of your control, but that's racing I guess. Might try and pop along to Snetterton if I can, would be good to see the car in the metal.

    Ash's 147 GTA

Lovely looking car that. Bet it sounds great and you've put plenty of nice bits on it already. The wheels would definitely look better silver, or with the ones on the red one above. You need to get someone to take some proper pictures of it though, yours don't do it justice. Need to get one of...

My first Mk3 - Ultra Red R27 with Akrapovic

Yeah they're a very different beast really. I do prefer them overall I think though. They just give you endless confidence to push.

My first Mk3 - Ultra Red R27 with Akrapovic

Shame but at least it's sorted now. Just get it out on some decent B-roads and you'll soon forget the setback!

    Focus 4x4 Cosworth

Rallying is pretty much how they started. Most of the rally cars were broken up to build things like this ?

Want a new car. Stay with clio? Or step to a megane?

I've had a 172 Cup and a Meg 265. They're obviously very different, but you can sense the DNA. If you can afford it, I would go 250 over 225. They seemed to step up the quality a bit and a 250 is a nice, if slightly stiff daily. I loved my Clio, but the Mégane is in a different league really...

    New 271bhp Hyundai i30

I think I prefer the hatch overall, but it's a car very high on my radar. Really want to try one. Like you say, pick one up with plenty of warranty left for low 20s and it's a very compelling package.
