    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

The Conti GT just gets uglier and uglier with every facelift I think. That grill is horrendous!

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

These yesterday: Had been hankering for a go in one for a while and, following a chat at an event, the opportunity arose, so couldn't say no. Very impressive car overall. Loads of equipment, comfortable, nicely put together, a good drive and rorty soundtrack. Would take a hatch over the...

Too many people seem to be let down by specialists. It's sad.

    Clio rally car

You could try contacting RSport. I think they are/were the official importer for Renault Sport competition parts. Otherwise, just keep an eye on the rally classifieds online. www.rallycarsforsale.net and www.rally24.com aren't too bad. Brace yourself though, it won't be cheap.

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Depends what you want I guess. They're always available with massive discount. Pre-registered ones are often a good chunk cheaper than their rivals and they're pretty generous with equipment compared to the likes of Ford. If you aren't a petrol head and just want something new/newish that's good...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Probably not really necessary in a Corsa though. The standard engine will do 240-250bhp, which is more than enough in a car like that.

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Yeah think the gearbox is much the same as that used in the previous model, so still a bit of a weak point unfortunately. The MK3 Megane is always going to be a thorn in its side, as it follows a very similar formula, but is the slightly better car from a driving perspective. The Astra is...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Yeah was reading that the standard injectors are basically maxed out, even at standard power, so to extract power safely, you need to change them. I'd be interested to see what the steering is like. Sadly it's a criticism that could be leveled at most cars these days though.

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Yeah sounds like they make a big difference, With normal ones available for sub-£3k, you could probably make a decent track car out of them. I'm not sure if the later ones are forged. Some people do seem to have problems with them, but it sounds like the injectors are a bit weedy so, coupled...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

The Nurburgring Corsa is supposed to be a big step-up compared to the normal one. Would be interesting to drive one. I think even the normal one could be good if you spent a bit of money on a diff/suspension. They're peanuts to buy now too. Shame the engine/gearbox isn't the best. Surprised you...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Yeah, they're getting very affordable now. I really did think it would be awful, but it was actually a decent drive. The interior isn't the best, though the seats are nice. Decent looking from outside though. Like you say, they have the fancy separate hubs and a diff, along with Brembos etc...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

There is no doubting that it is s**t in many, many ways. However, my daily got written off so I needed a car in a hurry. This was local, cheap, had a tow bar and I can fit about 15 wheels in the back of it. The engine is rubbish, as are the gearbox, brakes and handling. However, for what it...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

I don't know if these fall into that category, as there aren't that many of them about anymore. The chap above is probably more likely to go for a MK2 Focus ST in asbo orange I would think. Besides, I've long since decided that I don't care what other people think of the car I drive. no doubt a...

My dad had two GSI 16v company cars when I was a kid. And a Belmont SRI

Black would probably be my preference to be honest. Arden is nice, but a bit obvious somehow.

    It's a good job you're not judgmental isn't it? ?

    Astra GSi - Mk4

Think they suffer from valve stem seal issues which causes the smoke. My friend had a Z20LET in a Corsa C and it smoked cos of the seals. Wasn't a hard fix though I don't think. I know someone with one that's going to be pushing 700bhp, so I think they can take plenty of power. As with...

    Astra GSi - Mk4

I really like them. Yes they're chavvy, but who cares. I think they're a great looking car and I would have one over an Astra H VXR all day long. I don't know how good the gearbox is - are they five or six speed? The six speed boxes in the VXR vauxhalls are pretty shonky by all accounts. My...

    22b 99k

Hasn't it had a lot of the juicy bits removed though? I'm sure I read that it wasn't running the proper engine etc. Understandable though, parts are getting quite hard to find for the S11/S12 etc, let alone for one of that age.

    The Ford Appreciation Thread

I know what you're saying, but I think this has perhaps gone a bit too far. To put it right is going to take massive, massive work. He said he paid about £12k for it and it sounded like the history was a bit sketchy when he got it. While good ones are worth big money, I think this one is so bad...

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Copied from the Ford thread, as thought it deserved a place here too! Here's one to make the enthusiasts cry. I had a couple of parts advertised and the owner of this came to buy something. When I first saw it, I assumed it was a rep, but no, it's a genuine Cosworth. It was, to be honest, an...

    172 cup tarmac rally build

That's mega. My new favourite CS car methinks. I loved @NorthloopCup's car, but the engine moving into this is next level. What type of flywheel is it running? I know it's a revvy engine and close ratio box, but the way the engine builds revs on the dyno is mental. Can't wait to see it in...

RB PH1 172 Rally Car Progress

Not surprising really, as I suspect they won't sell in great numbers. You get what you pay for when it comes to these things I guess.
