    Have you got a multimeter? When it's running check the voltage of the battery, if your alternator is working correctly it should be running at around 14.4v

    I just shoved the new wire into the plug on the old ones if that makes sense. Maybe a blob of solder will help as well then just tape up.

    Isn't it powered off the rear lights? Have you got a multi-meter? If you have unplug the light holder and put the multimeter into the plug.
