I was on holiday at the time so couldn't check what I had at home.
These are genuine Renault 182 front and rear cup shocks that I bought from RPD a few weeks ago.
I couldn't see any indication that they're made by Monroe.
All 4 boxes say they're made in Spain.
Maybe Renault had more than one...
I guess that's probably the reason?
The part number for the front is different to the rear.
Front is 7700842857
Rear is 7700842859
If they work, they work and hopefully won't start clunking again after a few weeks 🤞

Where did you get the door check straps from?
I replaced the drivers side one a couple of years ago and that clunks really bad.
I changed the passenger side one a few weeks ago and now that clunks, even after smothering it in lithium grease.
They were both from ebay and none genuine parts.

Just a couple of questions.
It says the front shock absorber 54mm and 60mm bolt spacing have the same Monroe part number G7203?
Likewise the rear shock absorber for cup and none cup. G1049?
That's actually the way I went last time. I always put it in Google maps in case there are any problems. It's the first time it's taken me that way.
Normally I've gone down the M56 then M53. That's the way I went a couple of weeks ago when I had the cambelt / aux belt service.

Not actually today. A couple of days ago had the Big service at Birchdown.
Both belts, aux belt tensioner, thermostat, water pump and spark plugs. Total round trip of 4hrs 15mins. I hate the M6 ☹️
Back to Birchdown today to fit a new passenger side drive shaft and new Redline MTL gearbox oil.
That's definitely a cheap Chinese reproduction caliper. You can tell from the arm that the handbrake cable goes through. Original calipers the arm looks like this.
Take it to Birchdown. If you're in Manchester it won't be that far for you. It's good 3 hour round trip for me. I'm booked in for my cambelt, aux belt.... service in a couple of weeks. They're always very busy.

That seal looks a bit strange. Has it had a new quarter glass in the past? It doesnt look like it's got the factory tint?
They are bonded in, but there's a seal inside as well.

I'm a big fan of Rainsports, especially in the wet. I ran 2s and 3s for a couple of years. But the wear rate was rubbish. I could go through a set in 5k miles on the road 😲 that's why I never bothered trying Rainsports 5s.
I've been running Avon ZV7s for the past couple of years on my 182 after a couple of recommendations.
The wear rate is brilliant. Never let me down in the wet or dry when pushing on and only £78 a corner 👍...
I think it depends what the warning light is. If it's an abs fault, my understanding is that it's a safety issue and would be a fail.
I'm guessing it depends on the MOT tester, how well you know them 😉
£2k tops. It wants some serious money spending just on the rust alone, then factor in the belts, you're looking at spending another £2k just to get it looking half decent again.

My 182 is coming up to 19 years ownership from new in February 2025. If I'd waited a couple of weeks it would have been an 06 plate.
It's only got 125k on the clock so not too high mileage for its age.

It could be your handbrake cables are old and have stretched which has been mentioned.
I was experiencing the same. It just wasn't holding very well on steep hills. I always leave it in gear anyway but obviously wanted the handbrake to hold the car.
