    Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

Just read through this all, some great work. You should be proud. I don't have the time or patience or space in fact to be doing all this!

poorly 182 does'nt like slow traffic????

Yer i bought this car and took it to a specialist and it was the crank sensor. Simple fix and relatively cheap.

    Cutting Out :(

Just for future reference if anyone searches for this in the future the problem was the crankshaft sensor. As a test if you wiggle the wires to the plug and it cuts out then you know that's the problem. Fitted a new one and all good now.

    Rojer's 182

So yesterday was judgement day for the car! It had started getting worse with the jerking and cutting out etc so the trip to ED couldn't come soon enough. Arrived bright an early on Monday, had a quick chat with Andy and left him to get on with it. This morning i spoke to Andy again and he...

Confirmed they are 382's so ordered some nice Osram ones, while i was at it i ordered new Philips Silver Vision indicators all round and finally some new Bosch Aero Twin wipers all round :) Quick question, do you know if the headlamp washer pump and the winder screen washer pump are the same?

    Rojer's 182

Not at the top of the list right now, but i have been looking at some mobile companies. Anyone you can recommend? I do have a local coach works so i might ask them. Excellent are they the 382 P21W bulbs?

    Rojer's 182

Going to order the bulbs in a min, stupid question I have noticed the top bulbs in the rear lights are missing! What are they for the rear fog?

    Cutting Out :(

I spoke to Andy this morning at ED and he said it sounds like a crank sensor, so i'll just hold it out till next week and they can take a look.

    Rojer's 182

So this morning has been spent trying to work out some issues and a general look over the car. I don't really like working on cars anymore, but sometimes needs must. First problem started a week or so ago, I was driving home and noticed one of the Xenons had gone red. The plan was to take the...

    Cutting Out :(

Well this morning I have had a look at it, I took the throttle body off and that was nice and clean. I checked the relays in the engine base fuse box and no sign of water ingress there either. I know it will be something electrical, just not sure what. Noticed some other weird stuff that will...

    Cutting Out :(

No lights on the dash and the code reader only picks up "current faults". I hope it's a simple fix or Engine Dynamics can figure it out for me!

    Cutting Out :(

So today i was sitting at the car wash, had been there around 10mins and then the car just died for no reason at idle. So carried on driving home and it cut out a few times when slowing to a stop in traffic etc. The car was warm, not sure if that makes a difference. I'm sure lots of you guys...

I'm sure there is a way to do it, you can get leather dyes etc but it doesn't bother me tbh. Yer i like the thumbgrips as they are now, never been a fan of them on the original wheel.

    Rojer's 182

So today was exciting as i got my new steering wheel fitted, much better than the original. However it was not all good as the car now has a problem :( Will make another post for that. I'll let the pictures do the talking, work was carried out by Royal Steering Wheels.

Ha ha no far from it! I have to use M1, M25 and M4. It's all about anticipation especially around town, try not to stop unless you can help it and keep the momentum up etc. I was driving like a grandma but still doing 65/70mph. I just wanted to see what I could get out of it.

    Rojer's 182

So far it has been OK, i have experienced maybe twice where im at low speed/revs and the car hits a wall and almost stops for a second and then its fine. I think the car was ran on s**t fuel before whereas i only use Vpower in it. I may just replace the injectors not sure yet see what ED says...

    Rojer's 182

Good point, something may have been stuck preventing it from reading properly. All seems fine now, typical. Anyways some more pictures to give you a general idea of the condition. Very dirty thanks to the snow and salt on the roads atm, i'm not sure if someone has painted some of the...

Nice start, glad to see another member saving one! I really want to get those carbon fiber bits for the dash, wheel and gear stick. Don't suppose you know where I could get them from! Are you going to update the NAV? I wonder what the latest disc is for it lol.

    Rojer's 182

Thanks! Think from K-tec it was around £16ish. Funnily enough after work jumped in and hasn't been on since, but i'm sure it will come back so might as well just swap it and go from there. Yer it should be nice and easy, im sure the car has plenty of surprises in store for me lol, but I'm...

    Slight misfire, no eml...

I agree looking at live data is the best way forward, however for the sake of £20 or whatever it is to clean the injectors it won't do no harm.
