nice work sir,
speaking with a fabricator friend tonight, see what he can say
is there any advantage to them being flared other than making them look much neater?
cheers for getting back to me in here mate,
this is my first real in-depth project car, it wouldn't have even got this far if it wasn't for my previous job which made me able to get alot of the top products on the car now, (another reason i now can't do half a job on it....)
I knew i wasn't the...
Which rail kit did you use mate? i notice that tweeks have 2,
also do the rail kits come in 3 parts? the tubes, the end plates and then the actual mount points? the reason i ask is because buckets/sidemounts are all different widths, surely they can make them with the tubes/mount points already...
Yeah i think i am pretty much decided upon changing the mounts now to a rail style, £80 at custom cages though??? they are only around £40 per side at demon tweeks. Thanks for all the info on the materials you used, i was going to ask about the bracket to seat mounts (i never thought of box...
if this if that..... just do it you candy-ass....
i drove the passat around all last winter and it was no problem at all....
apart from i couldn't get any further than 1/4 mile from the cottage.... but thats because it weighed a ton and couldn't get up the snow covered lane....
yeah a stretch will help massively here, if you get the right stretch you may even not need to do that much archwork.....
just say ney......lol
your idea is far better...... i want to be there for it though....
bomber and Gray are probably getting a bit fed-up of my texts, i have been on another downer this week about the car, not sure why really, i spose it might be seeing it going further and further away from being a complete car, that and the fact that i know my bill at the end is getting larger...
Very very impressive build, very impressed and jealous of some of the work / ideas going in here,
You are very lucky to have that work space and be able to weld also, from my point of view being able to fabricate would cut a massive chunk of £££ off my build...
instead i have to rely on a mate...
So a bit more of an update then after i went down to the car again today...
The last bits that NEED to be removed from the engine bay come out today, anything else can be masked....
leaving it looking quite sparse...
the rest of the engine loom, brake servo/pedal assembly etc all gone...
it was a good night / day, do miss bomber and gray, its a shame when you make good mates that live sooo far away...
sorry i have not updated sooner,i have had a pretty busy weekend after posting yesterday,
V-tec - just couldn't do that.... that would be a crime + i would have to just...
UPDATE PT: 2: the rear floorpan
was pretty happy with how this looked, as my mate is so busy at the moment he got a contact in to work on my floorpan, this chap specialised in panel work so i knew it was in good hands, the panel was from a 182 and brand new from Renault, however we are...
UPDATE:
as planned a little while ago on here bomber and keiran were coming down to help me remove the engine from the 172... they made there way down last night ready for us to hit the car today, a good laugh the night before with cider's, curry's and un-expected encounters in the dark...lol...
