i have a magnex on my valver mate and i have been having loadsa problems trying to get mine to be quiet. it was catching something under the car and was resinating through, after two trips to the garage they removed a bit of heatshield and twisted another...all sorted now..

wouldnt worry mate, mine use to idle at the same as people mentioned above.

it might be worth checking a search on this as there was something about this before....just an idea if you havent already

had one on my valver......had one.....got rid of mine as the exhaust clipped it at some point...got quite annoying now the exhaust sits far away enough to not warrent a heatshield

i think the wholes just there, its probably a universal.ie european part (the wing mirror) so when they produce the left hand drives they have the temp sensors on the right = explaining the hole
