there is very little days in the winter up here where it is dry and not greezy surfaces where you can get the full potential out of a 172, although granted there is some. all my mates have winter cars so ive got no one to go out a blast with so it doesnt get any proper use so i dont see the...
well you know how i feel dont you like that feeling of having a complete minter of a car plus makes it a hell of a lot easier when it comes to working underneath as everything comes off easy peasy!!!
like you say about garaging a williams, same goes for all the other mint classic hatches...
if there is no specialists around your area get a renault garage to do it, they arnt easy and if the garage doesnt have the correct tools you will end up with problems.
cambelt change from renault on them is around £600 ish for both aux and cam belt
thats just figures though, figures dont tell the full story, the diesel doesnt rev high so its going to take 3rd gear before it hits 60 so 0-60 its going to look slower, but put them both side by side at 60mph in 3rd gear and watch the 1.4 be covered in a big dirty cloud of black smoke.
id say...
deep breath.....
IT WAS STANDARD
I WAS IN 5TH NOT 4TH

you wouldnt win now, well if it wasnt up for sale :( lol
mildly breathed on, 190bhp 160lb/ft.
mates ek9 ctr used to pull on me in first as his LSD gave him a better start, 2nd gear upwords tho the 172 used to pull on it.
never had a standing start blast with an ep3 but had a blast up a motorway sliproad then down the motorway, he got a couple...
i dont care what its worth, i paid £7200 for it and have just sold it for £4500, if i had used it all though the winter it wouldnt have affected the price, apart from the extra millage its always going to depreciate the way renaultsport bring out models. im into my cars i like to have a car to...
compaired to a B series or K20 it is lol, ive yet to come up against a honda thats quicker than my 172 and ive had a blast with everything other than an s2k and a dc5
its JCC's mate from stirling dont think hes on the forum, hes just got it, couldnt keep up with the dci100 through the bends! said hes still not used to the handling so i told him id take him out in it but he kindly declined! lol he was quite a sound guy! im sure JCC will get him registered up!!
its it coming on cam, just at the point where the cams are working at their best and you get a little kick at 5k.
vvt just allows them to fit more wild cams and still have the car idle more normally, thats how you can have such a high reving power band but still fine to drive around town
dont worry mate, if vvt isnt engaging it wont feel strong through the revs, once its up to temperature it should pull to 7000rpm without dropping off the power. it wont make any difference at 5k.
although ive never heard of a dephaser "not working" they usually just make mental loud noises!
thats not VVT kicking in at 5k its just it coming on cam, dephaser wont make a difference at 5k, you will just notice a lack of power throughout the rev range if anything, usually its just noise
i garage mine over winter have done for the last 2 years its nothing to do with not being able to afford it personally its about keeping it imaculate and saving money when i cant really enjoy it in winter, cant drive it hard so i pootle about at 65mpg in the dci lol mine rarely see's the rain...
a search will throw up loads of threads on buying them but also check the exhaust isnt blowing at the welds or joints as they do when they are about to fall off and the stress of a sagging mount as mentioned could accelerate that wear, as can worn engine mounts
gsf will use either valeo or another well respected manufacturer who probably makes them for renault.
get the garage to fit and supply that way they make their cut on the clutch and wont screw you over lol. genuine clutches for the 1.2 16v used to be £60 + vat from memory, urs will be a...
you will be told to leave the engine alone etc as its not worth it. ive been there done that, i got good gains for a 1.2 was it worth the money NO, was it worth doing probably not, if i could go back would i do it again YES.
same goes for my 172, numbers dont tell the full story i spent about...
