Man, that's some crazy insurance price....! My 172 was only £800 to insure, when I was 19yrs old with; 2yrs NCB SP30 speeding offence 2 none fault accidents modifactions etc. all declared admittedly this was 4years ago and prices where cheaper a little cheaper, but not by that much...

Magnex do do exist anymore.... They went into administration 3yrs ago.

It does seem a common'ish occurance for new Renault gearboxes... My Megane r26 box was changed under warranty a few weeks ago.

Tricky situation Neil.. It would be a real shame to see the car bring broken, especially after all the memories, time, money poured into it :( Is their no family members, friends with a garage or unit etc. where you could store the car for free?

A MK2 Clio 1.5 DCi will see you a steady 60~ MPG all day long :)

The standard clutch with be perfectly fine for your application.... as said it will be the gearboxe that breaks before the clutch.

At Donnington you can pretty much walk around the whole circuit, plenty of good places for photos as most sections don't have high fences in the way etc.
