What james said if you are shooting on a crop body which I assume you are. If you want wider, try an 8mm fisheye but you'll get ridiculous distortion.

The OIS will never work well when it's zoomed in like that so it shouldn't be comparable. When they were the similar focal length they were pretty even. The note looks a better camera overall tbh and the audio quality of the iPhone was really poor when switching between the two.

It's not the camera, it's the lens, but at 10mm you are always going to get a soft edge. Shoot in aperture priority. Between f11-f13 for the sharpest edges according to some reviews. Remote shutter/2 second delay and a tripod or rest it on the shelf opposite if possible.

Could pick up a Sony z3 compact cheap enough. On o2 they do their contracts so you pay for the phone and plan. Once the phone is paid off, you just pay for your data etc. Think you can get a z3 for 20 odd per month. More than capable camera, easy to use and a nice size.
