It will be the speedo sensor which is on the back of the gearbox (well it is on a 172)
Not an expensive part if it needs a new one and it just clips in.
I've tried it once. The meat hangover was bad enough on a Saturday let alone having to work the next day.
Besides will be more fun watching James 'Wheeler Dealer' Baker try the challenge seen as he's so convinced he can do it.

Yeah. My phase 1 was exactly like yours and a new cable sorted it.
Its just a suggestion from my experience. I'm no mechanic but think its worth a check.
Its not revving itself though? Its maintaining a high idle.
Still check it anyway Jon, look on the plastic spindle the cable joins on to (on the TB) and see if you can move it back so the revs drop to a normal level then you'll know.
Its not the meat sweats you need to worry about, its the feeling like you need to spend the next 2 days on the loo afterwards.

I have a boot build with a false floor and sub in the spare wheel well. I like it, its well made (bought it second hand off here) and although its not the loudest it works for me.
When I took the photo in the OP I should have had something in the shot to show scale.
I love how all the people who have never done it are saying its so easy though, will be good to see their faces when they're half way through.
