Believe me I have! It's a bit of a head scratcher. The only thing I can think of is that the lifter stuck momentarily. Either that or it was a rogue valve that fatigued over time.
Although the rev limit was only 7800 I think I'm going to lower it slightly now. Not that that will help with a...
I'm running Supertech springs as well but not the double ones. I sent them down to Nick at PMS to measure and supply me with the correct shims for them.
The valve that broke wasn't new. It was the opposite end of the block to the cylinder that had the bolt sucked into it last month. All the valves were replaced on that cylinder.
So, 2 weeks later and I think I'm ready to update this!
Oulton Park was eventful and anyone who follows me on any kind of social media will know the story already.
On this occasion I was taking the family away with me for the weekend as this was a Bank Holiday weekend and our race was on the...
No problem. I race in the CSCC Tin Tops at the moment but have raced in MSV trackday trophy and also 750mc roadsports in the past.
All are 40 or 45minute races with 1 or 2 drivers like you did.

Of all the upgrades you could do, the gripper will shave the most time off your laps. If you haven't got the PMS shifter kit get it before you start using the gearbox. It will save it in the long run.
Good luck with the racing!
Very happy with progress today.
Collected another new starter this morning. Fitted it and all good. The car was starting but didn't seem very happy with the existing map. Some adjustment to the throttle position sensor helped it to idle but it was still tricky to keep running while moving it...
Anyone following me on Instagram will know this already but the last 10 days have seen some decent progress but again she's fighting me to the end.
The engine parts saga concluded with Thurston deciding that the rings were also salvageable. the engine having only done about 40 hours running...
Anyone who races will be very familiar with your frustration. I think I’ve had more than my fair share.
But as you mention. When it goes right there is nothing like it.
Looking forward to your next update.

Could also do Megan bottom pulley which is keyed, to prevent bending valves if you miss a gear/ over rev.
While the engine is out it’s also easier to do steering rack bushes.

All looks very familiar!
PM me if you have any questions. Swirl pot hose routing is fairly straight forward if you are mounting it in the boot.

Yes, weight is most definitely the enemy!
Been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the past few days with the engine.
I emailed PEC over the weekend to ask if they can supply a replacement piston plus rings, valves etc only to be emailed on Tuesday to tell me that those pistons are no longer...
Difficult to tell from the photos but if you can still select all gears then it’s probably ok.
They can bend though and once that happens they just get worse until you can’t select any gears.

I find 30psi hot is optimum but his problem was get any heat at all into the tires on a cold wet track but you may be right, possibly a bit lower would have worked. I beleive they had snow at the Ring this weekend. When it gets cold there it gets really cold!
A cold wet track certainly wouldn’t help of course.
Most people that race Clios run with toe out rather than toe in.
Personally I run about 10’ toe out on the front and zero toe on the rear.
Difficult to know for sure without seeing the car.
I assume all your bushes are good?
Steering rack...
What tyre pressures were you running? When you say standard toe, what is it exactly? Have you had an alignment done?

Thanks mate, me too.
I estimate mine is knocking on 870kg, but I have yet to fit fibreglass doors and boot. Tom's shell was dipped before he built it so all seam sealer and stonechip was removed. He's got an alumium flat floor in the boot and of course fibreglass everything.
He even uses an...
