my 1.2 16v one lasted 4 years and 140k miles it was still fine when i removed it too lol
my 172 however blew the welds off the centre section at 30k and 3yrs
verified 10k?
keeping in mind they changed the engine in 2004 to a newer style but still the same basic engine but it requires a different ecu etc afaik
oilovers on a road car are only really worth spending the money on if you want to go low. you can have a car that handles just as well on a much cheaper budget.
my choice for not lowering at all would be Eibach Prolines and standard dampers, or go for koni adjustables if he wants to change the...
saw a blue 172 cup lastnight in stirling was behind it, we had a quick blast off a roundabout untill we noticed the police in front lol gave you a flash? had an aftermarket exhaust, anyone from here?
i was in my iceberg 172 btw
think the highsports were replaced with Silverline's and the konigsports (adjustable damping ones) were replaced with the Silverline X ones, worth paying extra for the Silverline X ones, i had them
i had the apex -60mm kit before my FK Coilovers, was awesome, FK's wern't much better (just went lower which was what i wanted)
best kit you can put on your car for the money, transforms the handling
whats everyones opinion on this...

obviously not 5bhp to be had with it, but just wondering if theres any gain to be had or if its not an...
my 1.2 16v was brilliant fun, as said it was so slow you couldnt make a mistake in it. now when i take it out it feels like driving in slow motion haha
plus lowered about 100mm and that mega raspy exhaust was so much fun when punting it about.
wish i had put a 1.6 16v in the 1.2 like i...
my 172 came with PE2's on it, changed the fronts for eagle F1s and they are better in the wet and about the same if not only slightly better in the dry
went thru 3 front sets of eagle F1s on my 1.2 in a year, loved them
my mate has a vtec del sol import sir thing with filter and exhaust and my 172 is quicker.
from 30 in 2nd the 172 edges forward straight away because of the torque, when the vtec comes in the 172 only slowly pulls but does keep pulling.e
lol i threw over 5 grand at a 1.2 16v in a year, sold it for £800 (a 2002 lol) and bought a 172, only part i regret is selling it, even if i had got every penny i spent back i still wish i hadnt sold it
i test drove my 172 just after my 18th birthday myself, no salesman with me, never asked for any insurance or licence details for all he knew i cud have been 12 lol
lol my old one ate 2 engine covers, one was stoping the fan moving too lol i gave up puting them on after that.
could also be the coil pack going, mine started randomly dying and then it got worse and worse untill it kept doing it. thats also a very very common fault
i wanted to keep my 172 standard after having a decent install in my 1.2 16v as i couldnt be bothered cutting wires etc. but it sounded crap so put my old £500 (at the time) pioneer headunit in it and it sounds much much better, although now im used to it i want my components and sub back lol
how about they small subs you get that fit under your seats, apparently their better than they used to be these days.
as for sporty sounding exhaust my old 1.2 16v sounded brilliant! with a Motorsport world custom system...

guy didnt even laugh at me when i phoned up to insure mine at 18 lol im with admiral btw
apparently only worth going for performance plugs on a turbo car from what ive heard, my mate put a set of HKS plugs in a calibra turbo and noticed a difference aparently
on the clio tho just stick to standard leands and NGK plugs
its amazing how many more people pulled right out infront of me in my BLACK 1.2 in country lanes etc compaired to my silver 172, especially with xenons on.
with that power in a car that weight then its probably about right that its the same as a 200bhp+ 172!
very impressive mate keep up the good work, any engine pics?
