I haven't personally but spoke to a chap with a mk1 golf with a 350bhp VXR engine in it and he ran slicks up front and R888 GG's on rear as he was worried about not getting slicks up to temp, he liked the balance like that for his application
personally I've never had a n issue with lively back...
mine were awful the first time and the 3M was piece of piss to use, half hour a side running down the paper grades and done
as said now all I do is use the soft pad from the same kit with some scratch X compound once a year and keeps them decent enough
yeah I've used the 3M one, same idea using the drill. works well and since using the sandpaper stages all I have to do now is buff once a year with the cutting compound and seal them inbetween
ai its all about power to weight, mines 855kg and 192 bhp = 224bhp per ton. so its not shy
for comparison a standard 225 is 1335kg and 225bhp = 168bph per ton
unless you have very deep pockets you won't beat a well setup clio imo, so unfortunately 4k really isn't going to cut it as an upgrade budget.

as above, the hole in the box is the same, the speed sensor for the 172 cup is plugged into the same mechanical drive slot as the earlier gearboxes where the cable goes.
