I would think they're fine. Just buy a good one and make sure you get some rust protection on it. There are plenty out there to choose from, so should be possible to buy a solid one, surely?
As a daily, it would probably be my top choice to be honest. Not as exciting as the Ford or the Renault...
For those looking in the £7-8k category, a Meg 250 is surely going to be the car to have in the coming years. Not too many in that price bracket yet, but getting there now. Quality is a big step-up from the MK2 and a brilliant drive. As standard, the Megane doesn't sound great, but a mid box...
Those Seats are good value, but god are they ugly. The A4 of that era is a nice looking car, but the Seat is a disaster. It totally put me off them.

I wouldn't get too caught up with the idea that you need fancy suspension etc in order to have fun. I can absolutely see the desire to build the car yourself as, for a lot of us, it's about the journey as much as it is about the end result, so I get that, but don't feel that you must fit...
The standard studs might just be pressed in, so could just have longer ones put in. Easier than having the wheel bolt holes machined, which could compromise the strength of the wheel.
The swaged pipe/Ramair filter worked ok on my Clio but, on my Escort, it was a struggle to get the filter onto the swaged pipe. I got it on but the rubber base of the filter split in no time. I ended up cutting the swage off on that one, as I was too cheap to buy another pipe lol

If it's a 172 Cup, it will 99.9% be the 54mm spacing, as that's what they were from the factory. Pretty unlikely that it's had 182 Cup hubs fitted. Fitting fresh factory dampers is a decent move and, last time I bought some, they weren't actually all that expensive. Think the rears were about...
That's not the 'proper' R3 airbox. They had a fruity carbon one. The Cup racers used the one above and maybe the R3 Access cars. I'm sure @NorthloopCup will correct me though.
I've been driving my Clio daily for the last few weeks for the first time in about two years and I still love the noise of the fatty intake. Makes the car sound angry when you want it but, if you drive gently, it's pretty quiet to be honest. Let's face it, if you're into refinement, a Clio...
That drives me almost as mad as when people post screen shots from their phone without cropping them, or people who can't rotate their phone by 90 degrees to take a picture.
