    Why not remove the dashboard?

I have a bar welded across the rollcage at the front, all the bits I need mount to that inc steering column etc and then I have a pov spec top dash cable tied to the top of it in 'normal' position to stop glare. that's it, the wiring loom etc is also all cable tied to parts of the bulkhead and...

    Oil leaking

oh and the extra 'port' is probably a core plug in the head
  9. Coops Mk1

    Oil leaking

old cars will leak oil, if its not puddling underneath or gulping a litre through the rings/stem seals every 200 miles I wouldn't worry there is no 'cam cover' as such on the F4R, its an all in one piece that has the cam journals on it as well so yes to reseal it you have to pretty much...

Anyone any experience with a HELIX or similar clutch?

if you are staying under 200lb/ft no point, there is no 'upgrade' as the standard is the best you can get for that power really.

    ast solid top mounts

they work well for just being solid top mounts, the geo changes achievable with them however are minimal camber bolts or slot the bottom suspension holes will get camber more easily

My Jacking point, folded on itself. pics.

Managed to buy a bargain i think

same thing happened to mk1 scene few years back, tight Renault 'enthusiasts' wouldn't pay a penny for anything so people started breaking for spares as they were coming up so cheap now there are hardly any mk1's left not that I'm complaining, I'm one of said tight arses, and car killers!lol...

    Advice :s

as above, they rarely make stock power, but they're not shy, wind them up to the limiter in 2nd/3rd and you'll have a giggle :) (belts done first, lol!) oh and sack wire brushing the brake discs, that's mad, the pads do that for you!lol!

  20. Coops Mk1

    Advice :s

I would bother with brakes unless they fail to scrub off, I'm using a car currently that had been sat for 3 years nearly, brakes are fine. just be sensible about it, if they don't stop you, grind a lot or vibrate then yes change them. but don't just chuck money at it for no reason imo.

    Quarter mile times!

Lad called Bish used to crank out low 13's in 'just' a Williams powered mk1, think he had cams and a super sprint and an off the shelf chip but little else. ran that on semi slicks and it was all in the launch, the boy couldn't half launch it if you can get 60ft's down to around 2 dead on semi...

  28. Coops Mk1

Clios are underrated on the quarter mile!

1/4 mile is dull if your there to race other cars, soon as you get the bug and start chasing 60ft's and trap speeds and pushing decent times against your own performance, that's when its get fun :)
  29. Coops Mk1

    Jacob's titanium ph1

    MK1 PH3 182 Engine Conversion

the clio 172/182 lump is the F4R the mark 1 engines are F7P or F7R (1.8 16v and 2.0 16v Williams, respectively) and yes, much easier as just plug the loom from the F7 series engine straight in and internal wires don't need to be touched, provided I would guess you use a phase 2 loom and phase 1...
