    Coilover Protection?

i'm interested in this thread as well, doesn't seem to be 'general consensus' though on whats best? all sorts of stuff being bandied about. upto now I've just used copper grease, duct tape and zip ties and does a reasonable job but not ideal

Puddle Of Water Inside The Clio

best part is, the mk1's did this and Renault must of known by the time the mk2 design was finalised, and they did the square root of sweet f**k all about it! lol!

Puddle Of Water Inside The Clio

its in the middle of the scuttle the main one, there are two smaller ones each side to the inner wings. if you clear the main central one, the problems should go away

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

If the combo with the cooks is causing other issues such as the reported clicking and clunking I suspect it's misloading the mount/bearing somehow and as such putting un uniform load through the shocker. I presume that could kipper a shocker fairly quickly

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

dude, this thread has cropped up more than once saying that cooksports, standard shockers and solid top mounts don't mix well and cause issues. more than likely the combo is killing the shocks? you have pures correct?

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

as in the pic, the bump stop and dust cover are one part and simply slip over the shaft of the shocker...........similar to how you learnt it in GCSE sex ed ;)
  13. Coops Mk1

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

could be, if you've hit the stops of the shockers rather than the bumpstop as its not there it would probably of damaged the shockers, thus leading to them wearing quickly

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

it'd be my first port of call, I had issues with my Leda coilovers on the mk1 with AST solid top mounts, standard rubbers they were fine, with the ASTs they rattled and squeaked all over FK's were fine on the AST weird! lol!

    Will there be any left?!

tin worm mate tbh, that's the biggest killer, well peoples lack of willingness to fix said worm issues anyway

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

is it just me or do fingers seem to be pointing in the wrong direction here?? most with issues have solid top mounts it seems??

    Will there be any left?!

lol, I had a quote fail and was actually replied to matey with the phase 1 19 16v..........however it hold true for the LY as well! :)
  18. Coops Mk1

    Will there be any left?!

rofl, theres a reason for that tho, no one bought one back then so there never was any anyway ;)
  19. Coops Mk1

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

not totally, the theory is right, at full extension with very short springs a standard shocker would allow for the spring to unseat and rattle etc. however not true for the cooks, I didn't have to use spring compressors to fit them, but at full extension once holding nut was wound up tight there...

    Steering feels lazy...

its getting spanner onto the bolts more than anything to slacken the rack mounts off from the subframe. inner arms again it just depends, if they are murder tight it'll be a fight!
  21. Coops Mk1

    Steering feels lazy...

due to the space there, total ballache I reckon. they are a pain on the mk1 and theres more space on them
  22. Coops Mk1

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

35mm I think is the official spiel for cooksports? not sure why they would cause an issue, I've used lower springs on standard shocks before in the mk1 with no issues at all, so I doubt its that. and as said, mine is on standard top mounts, standard cup shockers and the cooksports and I have...

    Will there be any left?!

you reckon you guys have problems, try owning several mark 1's there is literally sod all left of that market now, died a death in the last couple of years :(

    HiSpec 4 pots.

I've used them for years on the turbo, they were good but never great until I put RC6 pads in them, then they were savage! never had a problem with them at all though, worked fine, never leaked and did a fair number of track days with them, only issue I did have was boiling the fluid, although...

    Cooksport springs failing front shocks

Clio 182 FF on 15 inch wheels

heres cooksports with 15's at et37 195/50 R15 Michelin PE2's with 15mm front and 10mm rear spacers, they catch a bit from time to time. without the spacers they'd be fine, the standard wheels on this setup on 205 tyres and et43 don't rub at all ever IMG_6985 by Coops_Turbo, on Flickr
