The fact is, they aren't Rotas designs. So yeah, they look nice, because they are rip off designs! I'm not sure build quality is an issue anymore, but it was. It's more the principle of that they are just copycats.

As far as i know for a naturally aspirated engine it produces more power per kg of it's weight than any other. It's torque figure is also considerably better than say, the K20 Honda lump (which copies bits from the feeble Rover engine!).

Turbo's in the boot of the NSX are quite common. Perhaps it is to manage heat, because they can fit in the engine bay. Maybe not one that big though! You can get a much better manifold design by going through the boot, thats for sure.
