I think it depends how you look at.
If you consider it a Beetle with a Golf body, then it's cool (IMO), but if you consider it a Golf that has been converted to run old tech Beetle gear then it seems pointless and different for the sake of being different.
If a bloke can pull a jumbo jet then you can't need huge amounts!
The key is that it has winter tyres and/or snow chains. I'm certainly going to get myself a set so i can be king of the snow!
Nice buy for £300, but i'd rather tidy it up and sell on for a profit.
For me, it will always be a Mk3 Golf. Nothing special. People will just think you've spanked all your dole money on mods.

Sounds good! I have a Mini JCW Chris. Just paid for a refurb so i'd rather them not get mullered in a few months...
This is what i'm dealing with in the 'Oaks. Steep drive onto a main road isn't cool!
Well, last year i had to abandon the car, so although it's infrequent, it's a major pain in the ass. Besides, i want to save my BBS over winter anyway...
It's pretty hard to find test results for winter tyres, but seems the Conti WinterContacts are quite good.
