If it's protected properly you should be able to dry it using a hose pipe. Then mop up what little is left by PATTING a good quality drying towel over it. Same as this guy (but you don't need to be as slow and retarded)

I think that because they're so old now, the chances that one (or more?) of the owners have abused them and then it means later down the line they fail catastrophically. Mine was a completely standard U.K. Car when I got it so I guess nobody abused it because a BMW 320d is faster! Lol Yours...
