So what is the story behind it? Why unused for 10 years? My dad was given one as his company car when he was based in Manchester in the '80s. It was white with big Turbo decals down the side. Went down well with people on the pickets... lol.

Up until the latest Civic they all had indepedent suspension... I presume that is just a subframe brace. Saw one on a Civic a while ago and it was almost dragging on the floor!

I'm typically against tints because they tend to look chavvy, or van like, but yours aren't too bad being at a legal level. I'd question whether it's worth the effort of taking them off TBH!

Why would traction control make a difference to handling?

The 197 is certainly more grown up and a better all round car. For me though, it is lacking loads of potential options (heated seats for one!) so i'd always go for the Golf GTI instead.
