so basically the out-come of this thread is - its not worth the hassle as i have to by-pass my current alarm and immobiliser and then the insurance would be invalid.

well i dont know - i dont know anything about remote engine start, all i know is that i want one LOL. I want whatever works really, but i dont want it to muck up my exisiting alarm and i dont want any warrenty issues.

cos i see there are lots of remote starter kits out there, but they all seem to come with alarms and the 182 has an alarm. Money's not an object, i would rather pay more and get a good kit.
