A US iTunes account is easily enough to get, I'm tempted to do that but as you say, with no option for external storage (read piracy) it's a little more limited. I was hoping to be able to swap my mini for one and bank some coin, but doesn't look that way. No doubt when people get hold of one...

I doubt we'll get the tv stuff to start with but it's all converted into £ on our UK store. 99c is 59p on the App Store.

$4.99 is a bit steep, it's obviously on a par with Blockbuster etc, but when you watch a lot, it gets very expensive. Same with tv, 99c is cheap, but not when you watch a lot. $30-40 a month to watch all you want = Perfect.

Aye, but then by the time they do, Apple will be ready with a new phone. The whole process takes a long long time. Not a case of making a phone and having it ready for week. The Desire has got a decent following and it's by no means a bad phone.

TBH, this thread is completely pointless. It may as well just say 'Which phone do you own?' because nobody with an iPhone is going to say the Desire is better and vice versa. Same as the 'Which is the best Clio?' people just vote for what they have. You pay your money, you make your choice.

If you've not updated, you should still have it. It'll be in the iTunes folder. Just search your comp for IPSW and that'll find it. If you're taking it to Apple, why don't you want it on 4.0.2? They'll ask you if you've restored etc, so will expect you to be on the latest firmware.

You need to get 4.0.1 from somewhere. Torrent/Rapidshare. Google it.. 4.1 will be out soon anyway.
