As for keeping it for weekends, well only you can decide if it's worth it for you. Personally I don't think it is. A blast to the a Sunday morning is worth the insurance/tax/servicing? Not for me.

It's a Clio. Not a Ferrari. Cars are made to be driven, not left at home because you'll add a few miles to the engine and some nasty person might park next to it. Yes, it's good to keep a mint car and lower miles is more appealing...

Wireless ones make it even worse because there's no cable to stop them. Back in my old xbox/pro evo 4 days I used to get proper stroppy but the hefty controllers would damage things...

It is nicely modified, but that really doesn't justify the price. It's 12 years old! Plus it's got the horrible seats and bump strips.

The difference between them for someone who has no previous camera knowledge doesn't really matter.
Buying a D90 or something will get you no better results than a D40 at this stage. Buy the one that feels comfy that you can afford.
