I had my car up on axle stands to change a bumper the other day but as my road is on a bit of a camber the car tipped on the first attempt, I rectified it straight away holding it up with jacks aswell as axle stands, got in the car today to go to the body shop when I noticed a bit of floor where...
:( the guy reckons there's still £250 worth of work left to do... Im trying another place down hendon, if these won't do it then I may need some recommendations :/
Looks like it's a perfect height to me :) you're quite handy with spray paint aren't you ^.^ I nee to do my rear diamond White sometime... When I can be arsed :dapprove:
Aah I see.
And yeah hopefully, he'll probablies wanna tidy it up a bit, I accidentally melted a bit of bumper after my dad recommended I use an orbital sander... Bad idea, but I've tidied it up as much as I can, I couldn't get the rear trim off to fix the crack properly so there's another job...
The bumper popped off after prying away the tape
The 'wall of fibreglass' as promised by jungle jims guide, quite reassuring to see that I'm doing it right lol
Back onto the car to see how much needed sanding off
I used an orbital sander to take the majority off, I shat myself as it...
Sanded back the fibreglass and got the filler in
I also went about filling this crack. I'll fibreglass the back when I can take the bumper off. That should be ok right?
I filled in some little dents and chips too
I HATE when people say that!!! That grill looks no different, that bumpers exactly the same... STFU!!
I've fille a crack in reverse. I.e filler on the front, when that dries I'll fibreglass the rear when it dries and I can remove the bumper... That'll be ok... Right? :p
Isn't it you that posted about your mates not understanding mods? I wonder what they said about this lol.
Good on you for taking it on yourself :D I'm currently fitting a front bumper, how did you go about fixing the crack and is it a good finish? ( I mean is it strong, unnoticeable etc lol)
I'm not sure, I was gonna give it to the bodyshop to plastic weld and fill properly Jon :)
And thanks jimbo :) I hope it looks good... Ive never attempted anything like this before. Fingers crossed like
It's a way of bodykitting your car without getting slated on here isn't it... Everyone loves body kits :) the 1*2 kit just isn't as in your face so it's acceptable.
But yeah, loads of good points have been made;
Looks good but cheap
Insurance friendly
The enjoyment of tastefully modding your...
I wouldn't try and paint it, I painted the front diamond White and that came up a bit gash, I'll upload pics when its fitted to the car, plus my cars faded something rotten so I couldn't get the colour right :/
Thanks a lot, me too, I hope it turns out as good as jims ha
I think I'm more naive, as in not seeing how big of a job my dad was constantly telling me it was :) and I suppose this is a good way to develop skills :)
Right, I was going to wait untill this was finished before I updated but;
I got hold of a 1*2 front bumper, came up cheap off eBay so I thought why not.
Got home to find this a few days after pressing buy
The ad said it had a crack in, I was expecting a bigger one
To my surprise it came...
Awesome! I don't have access to my own body shop sorry, I have spent the majority of today fitting an rs bumper to non sport wings :) hopefully it'll end up looking half decent
