I got a small bottle from French car show this year. It's better than the turtle wax car shampoo I used to use but I can't say I've tried it against anything else. It's expensive too for the size bottle you get :(
I know what you mean. Mine weren't too bad on mine. I do see some about which look all over the place.
Best thing is to get some nice looking sidelights and silver indicators.

Get a metal drill bit and some self tappers and big washers and fix it back up. I've done it on mine last weekend. It's easily added 5bhp. Lol.
But seriously. It's deffo worth the fix. It's there for a reason.
