If you can find someone who has the facility to spin it up an rebalance it afterwards I can't imagine it being to much of a problem, at end of the day its only the same as skimming a flywheel
Nah mine weren't stripped matey but it was still loud, next I'll be going for a piper like Danny said. I had a full system on me old Saxo including manifold an decay an it weren't as anti social as the orEva
To be honest unless the seller told you you wouldn't know the difference but i see where you are coming from.
We've helicoiled quite a few cars in the past at our place, some we've done ourselves (theres plenty of kits on the market) an some we've called in an outside engineering company. I...
I had the oreca group N on my old 172, I also ran the decat ;) Can't you just have a new middle section made up to fit the oreca backbox an you custom cat? The oreca bacbox is a sleeved fit so will slide over your new section an then all you need is a flange that is compatible welding to the mid...
If thats the case i'd stick with your standard 182 box, my 197 runs the earlier box which is a little bit shorter then the later box but with its short ratio's its really singing at 70mph an tbh your looking to get anymore then 33mpg at 70mph!
Oh right wounded, as for arch rolling is ok providing its done by a professionalas you've already mentioned risk of painting cracking but also distortion of the panel itself which I've seen before
Try an find out for deffinate where there rubbing to start with (look for scoring on the Tyre sidewall) if its on the outer edge your either gonna have to have the archs rolled, fit stretched tyres or raise the car. If its on the inner again either fit a bigger spacer an makesure its not nothing...
Just read through this whole thread, awesome stuff. Shame it won't be ready for track but can understand where your coming from. No point doing a job twice. I actually remember seeing this shell on ebay a while back. Looking forward to you next update.
Danny that sounds epic, that video has certainly brightend up my night shift haha. Hope to build something similar once I've sold the 197, which I'm off to the ring in July in.
Yeah sounds like a good recipe you got there, its nice when there good out the box. Id rather have one over a gti anyway, a little more niche.
There alot more hardcore, less equipped so wind up windows, steel wheels, no fogs, no door guards an only came in white, black an blue
I've never had a car that runs 2k at 70! It would be nice haha. Short ratio boxes are awesome down a nice set of lanes or on track, adds to the whole driving "feel" haha
Awesome, does the s2 have shorter ratio box like the s1 did? I remember me mates s1 really used to be singing at 70mph on the motorway lol. Once again mate looks like a really lovely car.
As for converting to 16v its fairly simple, I did a few saxo's a few years ago. All the engine an box...
