No reason zinc plating wont work. Risk of hydrogen embrittlement but you still get bolts that are 12.9 and plated. Wonder if theres more risk it being after the fact? Just realised Dan was talking plating too and not just painting.

That's mad! When you remove them send them off for zinc plating. My watfields ones don't look anywhere near that bad and theyve been on 2 years nearly. Never treated in anything! Ignore the grime and lack of centre caps 😂

I did continue to read, but you're always going to need some form of mapping. It's fine wanting to do it in steps but you're shooting yourself in the foot by not bundling some parts together. I'm surprised the garage didnt advise in advance so you could tell them what you were planning (ITBS).

Didnt you research the effects of 197 cams and 7° timing? You should have had mapping lined up for right after, or arranged with the garage to sort it. They've clearly done this before as they have the tool
