Try AG tar remover on them 1st to try and shift the spots. If you're going to paint just get some spray paint and primer from Halfords or somewhere.

I went for a 90mm height, think that if you added the border on it the text would be notably smaller so more likely to get pulled for it.

Have noticed on my Vaio there is a tool that prevents the battery from charging above 50%. This is supposed to help prolong the battery if it's mainly used with the charger in, not sure if it's any good though. But yeah it's bad to leave your laptop plugged in with the battery in all the time.
