Hey guys as i just got my Clio and the previous owner never got the cam belt done im going to have to do it all at once, so, can anyone tell me where id be able to pick up all the parts i need without going to Arnold Shark or directly to Renault to pick up everything i need as they recommend you...
Best thing to do is ask to speak to management, explain the circumstances of your insurance and then tell them you can get it cheaper than you had the orginal quote you got for last year, then tell them that you might be inclined to go to write to the head office with the "poor customer...
What do you mean window regulators? Does it cause them to rattle slightly because if this is the fault im thinking of then jesus christ every clio ive driven suffers this!?!?
When i pull away slowly it sounds like somthing is rubbing against somthing, im going to get a mechanic to look at it, its going in to get all the belts and things done anyway so ill say to him then, any ideas?
One coil spring just got replaced so i dont know if its somthing to do with that...
Thanks alot guys, really helpfull stuff there.
I have a folio full of receipts dating since 2003/4 also it got a new exhaust little over 2 years ago so not bad there.
My only concern is the suspension, before i bought it the guy put it through an MOT and it failed for a Coil spring, which...
You see i would have done but seeing as i have owned the car since Thursday theres not much i can do about it.
This is a testimony as to why women should not own cars.
Can everyone that owns a 172 phase one tell me of any common faults they have experienced with there clios so i can watch out for it and also if my car may still have it, the current mileage is 44565 so not to high!
Also when i should get the cambelt done i dont think its been done yet...
Correct. Do what you want with it its your car mate, they might hum and haw when you do this and that but so what! Its yours!!!
I had to laugh when my dad said getting a Clio 172 was a "waste of money"
(he happened to be a mechanic back in the day)
Aye cause spending £1000 on a fishing...
Hi guys had my 172 mk1 since thursday and ive noticed slight squeaks and rattles here and there (its 7 years old as you would expect things like that) Any way, the car had a new front near side coil spring fitted to pass the MOT, that was it.
However when i pull away from driving cold i can...
Picked up my Silver Phase 1 Clio Sport last night in Aberdeen and im absolutley over the moon with it, its such a good car i love it!
Its faster than i had anticipated but hey!
Ever since my days in the good old 75bhp 1200cc tear away, it all seems worth it lol
Insurance is still a b**ch but...
Mate Astra has terrible power to weight ration there heavy cars the only one worth taking a look at is the Astra GSi Redtop, Apart from the VXR range obviously!
There highly underpowerd for the engines and claimed BHP they put out!
They arent called Vauxhall Dis-Astra for nothing;)
I really dont think you would get a very good 'teg for 5k mate, although Honda's are known and proven for there bullet proof reliability where as Renault is not so hot especialy higher mileage examples!
I think performance wise the DC2 would run with it, revs hard, accelaration is fierce...
Why not take the money you have/plan to save and buy somthing turbo charged already, might i suggest a Starlet turbo, cheap to insure highly tuneable.
Plus it isnt just about the turbo, you would have to change the brake set up chassis, rigidity etc etc so on and so forth!
IMO? Bypass!
Look no further than a Civic VTI or Jordan, they make 158bhp @ 8100rpm.
Itll do the 0-60 shuffle in little over 7.5 and as they need revved hard to get the most from its easy on the go juice when you take it easy.
Although you probaly wont find any with the mileage short of 60k dont worry...
