Any DSLR will get you great pics. Its the user that makes the picture, not the camera/lens. I think you're spending a lot more than you need too really. Nikon D40 would suit you fine for now until you learn some more and also save you £400!

Yeh, the weight difference accounted for a few cosmetic changes, too. No leather/alcantara seats, pikey steering wheel but nicer alloys.

Have you held them? TBH as a first DSLR a lot will depend on how it feels in your hands. But I think you should be comparing the 450D and the D40. I dont think the extra for the D60 is worth it.
