Looking to buy a 182 again. Seen one for sale locally that's done approx 95k, all the necessary engine work was completed 15k ago. Decent condition. Omp wheel. Mot history looks ok (new mot in July required). Last mot shows some corrosion underneath the car and on suspension (I'll be fitting...
Not quite. Again I'm not entirely sure. Basically the aux belt snapped and was flapping around in the engine bay. Think drunk people fighting. It upper cut the cambelt a few times and that was it. Game over. That's the theory anyway! You can imagine my disappointment at it going so soon. Just...
That's exactly what happened. Well, that's what the mechanic said as he pulled the mangled aux belt out of all the pulleys. Was a sad moment indeed. Apparently it was rubbing against a piece of firewall which does nothing much at all. Except cost me lots of money!
Not my best day! Lol

Not so much scaremongering as previous experience. The cambelt snapped on my previous 182 after just 20k miles and 2 years. All genuine parts used etc etc. Bad luck maybe but after that horrible feeling when you hear the snapping and scraping noise is one I dont fancy again

Funny you say about cambelts. Enquired on 2 Trophys in the last couple of days. One of the dealers, who shall not be named, suggested I drive the 250 mile home with a cambelt well overdue......

I agree entirely. I didn't want to post a leading question but its 'just' a standard clio. You are so right. What's going on with these at the moment. Is everyone thinking theirs is collectable?

Nice car that though. I've been looking at it. What do you think of the price though? I felt it was a bit strong but I've been away from these cars for a while

TBH yours is absolutely lush. Its near on exactly how I would want mine. But you are right, you are so far away. Plus, you've already done all the things I plan to do to my new one! Takes some of the fun out of it. However, if I didnt want to do all that and had unlimited time I would be...
Okay so. The black one is off the cards. I wont be, as some one above so perfectly put it, "throwing the dealer under the internet bus" but theres something fishy about this black one. All seems fine until you read more into the Dealer who doesnt appear to be very 'amicable'. Also, if you look...
Thanks for the reply. I think all of what you've said is in line with what I was thinking. At the end of the day its going to be a second car and a bit of fun. But I just want to know everything before parting with my hard earnt £!
Which car are you referring to? Landymans or the Black one...
Wow. Where to start!
All good points. Ill check. The headlights ive done on my previous 182 and theyre easy done. I quite enjoyed doing it. Points for negotiation!
I know tyres are an important one. Ill keep an eye out. thanks. Also, good point about the water pump. Ill check that too.
I...
Oh for sure. But my fondest memories of wheeler dealers is my dad yelling at the tv at the end about how they turned a loss because of all the Labour cost they never show lol

Unfortunately my 182 is up for sale. More details in the description on ebay. Been tugged around by someone already by winning and then not paying!
Hopefully someone on here realises its worth and it goes to a good home...
Sorry for hijacking the thread and taking it off on a tangent folks.
Going to see how things go and probably sell as is.
Any one interested, pm me.
Cheers,
Will

So we've basically established renault are great at making fun cars but not so great at making them survive very long lool.
Spoken to a local engine builder. He says to not bother rebuilding top end. Whole engine is about the same price.
Im relatively handy with a spanner and have a begrudged...
Lads,
Yesterday my 182 clio's cambelt went snap. Aux belt took out the cambelt which is a right sod as I had them both replaced 2 years ago. Anyhow. Few different options as to which way to go with it but I need advice as to what to do. (And hopefully a bit more sympathy than the Mrs gave me...
Wow. Good that he admitted it and agreed to pay! Who knew there are still some decent people out there!
Shame about the damage nevertheless

The saga continues. No cruise control. Pulled the panel out as the switch seems to stay on when not in its housing. Still wont engage!

Okay all sorted. Took both lights out and saw that they were actually covered in white residue. Clearly from moisture at some stage. Halfords sell electrical contact cleaner (other brands are available) and after cleaning them up with a screwdriver being careful to clean both sides of the female...
