you HAVE to have the lights on for the washers to work. Sounds like you had the wrong splitter before but have the correct one now, washer jets sound like they are either the wrong ones, or Renault have actually replaced the crappy plastic ones because the ends keeping falling out.
don't bother using self tappers, I didn't, I used big washers with screws and plenty of them. Just line the splitter up, tape it in place, drill through and screw in place. I did about 12 screws as I don't want it coming off or anyone swiping it. It was easy for me though as I used a mates ramp...
elephant charge you whenever you make changes to your policy, never had this before, personally I don't like them and will be changing from them later this year.
