The island is split into various areas, resort, city, jungle, prison. You can run around where you want, once you have got to that area in the story. Play it with your mates and blitz it lol. There's nothing really interesting to go out exploring for really.

Have a look underneath for a hole, hair dryer to get rid of the wet. Does sound like a lot of water though which I don't imagine could jump up through a hole and puddle.
