I was told that epson were crap & given reasons.
This one came out top by some pc mag, if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. I was told by a few that canon are good.
Fire up an ad in the wanted section. It'll take you a fair while to do it by hand, plus you'll be knackered from it or you could machine polish it yourself if you buy the tools.
Mine was making about 180 iirc (standard mk1) no renault clio in the mk2 or mk3 shape puts out what it's meant to as the figs are DIN bhp.
A mk1 vee is about 210bhp (as per mine) a mk2 vee is 240 or so (all fly figs)

Is the 1.4 s also called a maxim ?? (I know that there was a special edition mk1 called a maxim - as in the magazine I think)
For £550.00 it's likely to be awful, if it's near you there is no harm in looking at it out of curiosity.
