If its sub £200 go for the linked Nilfisk. You won't need more than that chap, to be honest, and it's more reliable than the Karchers due to metal impeller pumps.
Can you catch your fingernail on it? If so, rub down until smooth and relacquer with matt lacquer.
If not 2000 then 3000 wet and dry, followed by a polish with a machine + 3m ultrafina.
No specific suggestions for polishes other than the usual Menz or 3M. Both will sort the fade as it will just be UV damage (unless, like you say, it's a poor respray).
LSP wise I would go for the Werkstat range. On reds and yellows (flat colours) it's heard to beat the carnauba. Failing that...

But fellow members that know their stuff and treat it as a hobby are cheaper and may just do the machine polishing for you, letting you do the rest.
Both have their benefits - it depends on your budget.
