Possibly new car :) To Rally

 You'd prefer to mess about getting a new head and two pistons done rather than just swapping a gearbox? Are you mad or am I missing something here?

Couple of more problems with Clio

I have a kind of slight hissing (air) type noise on idle too. I don't know what it is but it's always done it right from new. ( Comes from somewhere near the back of the engine). As for the clutch, mines not stiff at all, lovely and smooth infact. I guess it depends on what you are normally used...

Well i bought the Clio 1.6

Agreed, most people may not know the bearings are on their way out, unless of course they are singing big style, but, (no offence to most females here), in saying that alot of females may hear a noise, not know what it is and just ignore it, or in my freinds case she just turns the stereo up to...

    Mileage reset button

Nice one Pepsi. I just went to check mine as I have never reset it. lol Saxo, I did reply in your other thread but couldn't go into the detail that Pepsi has. I would check my hand manual for you but it's all in German and it takes me a while to read and translate it. lol

Well i bought the Clio 1.6

I'm not 100% sure on this as I have never reset mine, but I think (don't quote me), you have to press and hold the button on the end of the wiper stalk. If it's not that, see if you have a little black button on the actual instrument panel. if you have, try that. Can't honestly say I have ever...

Well i bought the Clio 1.6

Not a good experience, but at least it was pretty cheap to get fixed and at least she paid half. Sounds like Renault did a good job on it, NOT, as per usual. I'm glad you finally decided to get one though, you really won't regret it, I know I haven't. I hope you enjoy yours just as much as I...

    Pic Request - MK1 Clios

All these Valver pics are making Dunc broody. He really really wants one! He can't have one though as the last parking space is reserved for when I (hopefully) get my new Twingo next year. ;) Tee hee hee.

    ALL GOING WRONG!

I was just thinking about that too! I know what he's going through though, I've had to replace loads on my car since November. It's got to go in AGAIN on Tuesday to have the top engine mount done. I'll have spent roughly £900 on repairs since November. Grrrrrrr The beauty of owning...

    crashed/insurance help

We are being sympathetic purely because the young lad admits he probably braked too hard in wet conditions and lost it. We can all see how that might happen with a young inexperienced driver even at the legal speed limit. I am sure we have all made a slight error in judgement at one time or...

How many rattles form your clio ?

Mines not bad. 1. Sunroof rattles when going over rough road surfaces. 2. Drivers window sometimes rattles when halfway down. (Also on rough surfaces). 3. Slight creak from the drivers seat, but don't hear that too often as the stereo usually drowns that out. None of the above annoy me...

    crashed/insurance help

Well that's some good news, let's hope you're right. I know some peple will say there is no excuse for not having an MOT, but it is easy enough to overlook it, especially when you are young and have loads of other things going on around you. I honestly feel sorry for the poor guy. He made...

    crashed/insurance help

Are the Police likely to pursue him for an invalid Insurance too? I am guessing that both offences may come with the added inconvenience of points . Is that right?

    crashed/insurance help

It probably doesn't matter who called them actually. The fact they were called to the scene would ( I would have thought), been enough for them to report the incident to the Police themselves. Can anyone confirm that?

    crashed/insurance help

Fireman? Who called the Fire Brigade Alessandro? Who actually took your car to the pound? The answers to these questions could tell you what could happen next.

    crashed/insurance help

I'm not totally sure on this, all I know is our local garage implemented compurised MOT certificates over a year ago.

    crashed/insurance help

I totally agree. Nne of us know exactly how the accident happened. All we know is he says he lost it around a corner and hit an electricity pole. The best thing we can do for him now is not to assume anything and to try and give him as much good advice as we can.

    crashed/insurance help

If I had said something out of order, then I would apologise, but I didn't. It wasn't me that made the generalisation. I'm just trying to be fair to the lad. It's just plain and simply wrong to just assume things. Sorry, but that's how I see it.
  30. DynamiqueDebz

    crashed/insurance help

You really can't say that because he is 17 he was driving like an idiot and showing off. That is generalising, which just isn't fair! You can not tar everyone with the same brush. I know some very responsible young drivers, so unless you know for a fact that this is the case, I think an apology...
